Rhino Helps Roy Rogers Ride Again
Singing cowboy Roy Rogers will be the subject of a four-CD boxed set. Rhino
Records has scheduled a May 18 street date for "King Of The Cowboys: The
Roy Rogers
Box," a 94-track collection of mostly unreleased songs by the radio, film,
and TV
star known for his harmonic yodeling. The package, which spans Rogers'
60-year
recording career, features such classics as "Home On The Range," "Don't
Fence Me In," "A Four Legged
Friend," and "Happy Trails," as well as never-before-aired radio
rehearsals, alternate versions, and duets between Rogers
and his wife, Dale Evans.
In addition, the set comes with extensive liner notes by Laurence Zwinsohn,
a friend of the Rogers family; an essay by
music journalist Holly George-Warren; and a complete Rogers filmography.
The package's suggested retail price is $49.98.
