A great list and a noble idea but the musicians named are important to us
all and not just for reasons of race, although that they succeeded in an
industry dominated by white men is probably of greater significance, except
when you listen to the music - which is what they would want and which is
the ultimate victory. It's all protest music, whether it's jazz,
rock'n'roll, country, folk, blues, soul, opera, classical...
