Celebrated Loretta Lynn's birthday (4/14/35) with a few of her tunes. Featured a sample of Roy Clark's instrumental work from a couple of his '60s LPs (THE LIGHTNING FINGERS OF ROY CLARK and THE ROY CLARK GUITAR SPECTACULAR) in honor of his birtday (4/15/33). Though he's probably most remembered in his long running role as Buck Owens' pickin' & grinnin' sidekick on television's HEE HAW, it should not be forgotten he was also a killer guitar player who strongly influenced another D.C. area legend, the late great Danny Gatton, who was 12 years younger. Also, showcased Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison who are appearing in the "area" a couple of times this week (4/21-Johnny D's in Somerville, MA & 4/22 - Iron Horse in Northampton, MA) as well as some new stuff this week from Cornell Hurd (new live recording from the Texicalli Grille in South Austin), Roy Heinrich, Lynette Morgan & Her Tennessee Rhythm Riders (UK), Gwil Owen, Carl Sonny Leyland, and Vol 2 of Razor & Tie's Speedy West & Jimmy Bryant collection.
