As long as you have an ArcInfo license, the ESRI python to read and write to the geodatabase is really pretty straight forward. (it doesn't run as fast as the OS stuff, but the documentation is better and the user community is much larger) What exactly was your data flow again? attributes and geometries from pgeodb to postgis and then attributes and geoms back to the geodatabase?
