Thanks for the share, Ian, It's interesting to have some current options put in context of changing levels of community/support etc.
mbed is the preferred platform of Kai from Blueprint Robotics, as far as i know. There is also a connection between mbed and the bbc microbit (some of the microbit docs online are hosted on the mbed domain, but i haven't looked into the context of that connection).
