Sean's suggestion will work well if there is only one Notepad
window currently open. "=notepad" means a window belonging to the
program notepad.exe. If you have more than one Notepad window, the
keystrokes might go to the wrong one.
To avoid that problem, have another try at specifying the window
by part of its title; but this time get the syntax right :-)
When help says "*parttitle*" you don't actually type that.
Instead you substitute part of the title where it says parttitle.
For example: *keys {toany *notepad*}abcd
because notepad is part of the title.
Actually you could use: *keys {toany *notepad}abcd
Notice I removed the second asterisk, because the title ends with
"notepad". There are no chars after that so we don't need the
second * wildcard.
But *notepad will still hit the first notepad window found,
(because they all end with "notepad")
which might not be the the correct one.
If the full notepad title is "myfile.txt - Notepad"
then this command is sure to find it:
*keys {toany myfile.txt - Notepad}abcd
Notice that no * wildcards were needed this time because we
supplied the complete title.
BTW
I don't have the old standard notepad here to test.
I replaced it with metapad.
In the above, I assumed what Notepad's title usually contains,
from my old memory. Adjust if necessary.

The toany keyword is supposed to make it switch to the target
window, then send the keys, then switch back.
Maybe my syntax suggestion above will help Powerpro switch to the
correct window for the keys command.
If not, then it's a mystery to me.
