I use fast keys too. But I still can type ahead. I guess I'll just
need to slow down. PP's macro implementation sends backspaces to erase
the macro characters, there's nothing I can do to avoid that (it can
be turned off, but then the digraph is appended to the macro).
I find that alt+num keycode is reliable vs. single character keycode.

Yes, you're right and I overlooked that. It works fine now. BTW,
tribute to the new help file format, it took me almost no time to find
the relevant information in it!
Big thanks. I'll stay with macros for the time being - they serve my
purpose - but will keep looking for a faster implementation too.
