This might be related to the same reason that *Message items run from the scheduler with the Ontop status don't respond to keys well. I think powerpro leaves the dialog unfocused so that if you're typing at the time the box pops, you don't hit an OK, or something else to clear the box (a good idea). Once you alt-tab to the box, then it works as expected.
