I usually see the problem when switching desktops while a tooltip is shown. 
I've never seen it happen with ordinary windows (now that I take a closer 
look, my ordinary windows don't have a shadow :)

I've switched off tooltip animations (fade-in/out), that reduces the amount of 
care I need to take when switching desktops :)
