Hey, Alex, I finally figured out that "PowerProConf" is how you access
configuration! (Duh!). For some reason I thought it meant "conference."

I was able to use hotkeys for my macros.

What's so confusing to me about the configuration process is the terminology
used. It seems with every program, different words are used to explain
processes. In particular "GUI control" confused me - I had no idea what was
meant. Took me a while to figure out that "Command list" meant macros, and I
also wondered if I am supposed to type in the backtick (if that is what I
choose) myself in beginning a macro.

As an editor of online content, I often think there ought to be some way to
explain these things in plain English, using popular terminology. It would take
more space, admittedly, but I think most people would be daunted (as you were)
upon opening "configuration."

I think your ideas are great and would help a lot.

  Susan

Thanks Rowdy! Done and done! :-)

Admittedly the PowerPro configuration that's included with the initial
installation can indeed be confusing - both to the new user and to the
more experienced user that's used to their own way of doing things!

I remember the first time I installed PowerPro and was faced with the
example configuration and I must admit that I uninstalled PowerPro
  entirely the first time round.

Does anyone else feel that perhaps it's a good idea to consider
  revamping this included configuration?

I haven't opened this configuration in a very long time and I don't
have it on my computer even, but here are some things that I think
  would quite suit it:

  * A lot of people expect to be able to right-click a tray icon and
select things like Configure and Exit from it. This would reduce
new users' initial confusion as to how to start configuring things
for themselves. And of course we could have a different left-click
menu which would demonstrate some of PowerPro's *Desktop, *Exec and
     *ScreenSaver functionality.

  * Obviously we need a bar, but how about a few textless icons at the
beginning that launch your typical Windows accessories like Notepad
and Calculator, and then have some buttons with text that do other
things like present submenus (including of course the tray icon's
menus to demonstrate that these menus aren't built exclusively into
that particular icon, or PowerPro itself). We could have some small
submenus of other Windows accessories that we didn't include
before, a submenu of some Internet sites, etc.

My initial impression when I opened this configuration was that most
of it was hard-coded into PowerPro, e.g. the menus. Placing useless
placeholders in some of the menus could be one way of showing
  otherwise.

Hotkeys would be an excellent addition to the configuration but
preferably not ones that already have some sort of use. Win+A, Win+C
etc. are nice ones because they're bound not to be used by anything
else. How about Win+Up to maximise the current window, Win+Down to
minimise it and Win+Left to restore it? I also use Win+Right to
  tray-minimise windows.

That's all I can really think of at the moment - the effects of last
  night's celebrations are to blame!

Happy New Year to all that are yet to experience it!
