Thanks, Bruce, that's better! See below for details. I confess that I did all
the changes at once, rather than one-at-a-time, in order to pinpoint the
problem. If you're interested in pinpointing, let me know.

First, ensure you are using at least version 4.4. If this is not
 it, try the following.

Yes, I upgraded from 3.8 to 4.4 recently. The
    problem predates my upgrade.

Shtudown PowerPro, run pproconf.exe alone by drag-dropping
 pproconf.pcf onto pproconf.exe (using explorer on c:\program
 files\powerpro).

    Done.

Try the following changes, each separately, and after each one try
starting and reconfiguring PowerPro to see if it fixes.

1. Change position of all bars which are positioned in the taskbar
to floating. Make sure you check for more than one bar having this
 position.

I just had one, the "Bar" that is defined in
     the default config file.

 2. Ensure setup|advanced|other "restore icons when desktop
 resolution changes" is unchecked

    It was already unchecked.

 3. Uncheck Setup|advanced|Configure "Run reconfigure command list
 with each new configuration"

    It was already unchecked.

 4. Change command lists\setup|special list|monitor list to none.

     It was already unchecked.

Again, many thanks.

-John
