Yeah, I'd like to know about this too. Here it is also the top
wakeup cause:

45.5% ( 30.6)      <kernel IPI> : Rescheduling interrupts
19.6% ( 13.1)       <interrupt> : extra timer interrupt

My system is:
Kernel v2.6.24-rc4-190-g94545ba
Mandriva 2008
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7250 @ 2.00GHz
Chipset ICH8

I am also using the hpet clocksource, so I am amazed
to see the "extra timer interrupt" here, as on my
old ICH4 with hpet=force this wasn't an issue.
I thought that with a more modern ICH8 those wakeups
wouldn't be there.

And "top" doesn't show anything unusual, I just have
firefox and thunderbird opened right now, and the
system is idle.
