-- You need to install the 2 apple PC card extensions that will make it useable.
Thanks. I searched my MacOS 8.1 install CD, and found an "Apple Serial Modem Install" within CD Extras/Apple Telecom/Serial Modems folders, that covers the PC card extensions needed. Unfortunately, there is a problem......... Apple says that this can only be used with PPC Macs, or PB 500 series upgraded with PPC and PCMCIA card cage rev. C., due to a bug in the CFM-68k Runtime Enabler Extension affecting 680x0 Macs. Apple does say that I can use the custom install option to install these, but will run into problems if other software uses the CFM-68k Runtime Enabler Extension at the same time. I do not (yet) have a PPC upgrade, but I do have the PCMCIA card cage rev. C. So, what PC card extensions can I use, and where to find them? Or, what is the CFM-68k Runtime Enabler Extension, and what other programs use it? Do I need to worry about the bug? Bob -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
