I'm not at my PB right now, but isn't there some setting in the energy saver
(or some such name) in system 7.5.3 which is what I run on that PB where
you can set different sleep settings for running on battery or plugged in? I
seem to recall a "never sleep" setting when plugged in, which would cause
your screen saver to kick in after "x" minutes of inactivity.

I just looked. It is a Control Panel called 'Powerbook". If you have a short
window when you open it up then you click in the box where it says "Custom"
just above the word "Custom". That will move the slider down to "Custom" and
enlarge the window. In there, set it to "Manual" rather than Auto or
Default. Then you can select "Never Sleep" for when it is plugged in to AC.
Adjust the other setting as appropriate for your situation.
