I don't think you can do it.  All of the USB or Firewire cards I've 
seen are CardBus and as I understand it nothing before the 3400 is 
CardBus compatible and the 3400 is somewhat iffy.  Also 10/100 
Ethernet cards for the Mac seem to be all CardBus.
