If you call in the BSA -- and you can do that anonymously -- for a current
inventory and assessment, you can probably forestall any future attempts to
jettison IT.

The problem is that most academic users are somewhat knowledgeable about
what they want and need, BUT they are also spoiled to academic pricing and
licensing processes. So, they often just throw on any software they
want/need without regard for legalities (some educators are the worst
pirates I've ever known, and I could give you dates, places and names).

It's a shame that school boards and admin often try to save money by cutting
the very people who keep their hides out of jail, but that's reality. A
good offense is way better than having to defend yourself. Call in BSA for
an independent assessment -- but be sure your own computer is clean, Clean,
CLEAN -- or they will burn you.
