HRm, as far as i recall, there's no decent freeware music software for the 
Mac.   I have a lot of audio software though, and I can definitely recommend 
Propellerheads' Reason.  It runs pretty well on my 3400c, but you may have 
to upgrade to 8.1 or 8.6.

It costs over $200, but it's completely self contained, and worth every 
penny.
