If you keep it down to a dozen or so you may see a speed difference no matter which WP app you use. I'm surprised no one mentioned Wordperfect 3.5. It uses little ram and is free albeit Corel no longer supports it. For compatibility with Word 97 and up, you really need Word. I use Word 5.0 on a PB165 with OS 7.6 so I can open Word 97 docs (usually I try to remember to save as Word 5 docs) at work. I have to save my Word 5.0 docs as RTF files to get the best conversion back to Word 97. Also I avoid any graphics in the Word 97 stuff since it crashes my Mac most of the time. If I didn't need tables I'd stick with ClarisWorks 3.
