I use a Motorola Timeport T280. It doesn't officially work, but if you 
manually ATDT it it works fine. Not sure about IrDA support, but the phone 
has a port for it. Naturally you're limited to incredibly slow speeds. I 
also had to track down a serial port adapter, but it works fine.

Incidently, most DSL connections these days require a phone line with dial 
tone. Your area might be different, but most major providers only do 
lineshare now.
