Victoria & Jim, Attempted w/o the jumper and it gives my a bus error bomb when trying to use the floppy HD Setup. I can't discern any sounds coming from the drive although it may just be very quiet. I hope. Problem now is, it won't let me boot from the cd drive either. Maybe the jumper on the drive was termination? All I get now is the flashing '?' So depending on what I find out tomorrow, I may need to find someone locally with a slightly newer pbook so as to format it. Will know more tomorrow. So I take it there is no cuda switch on these?
