The Modem CP is a likely culprit -- right script missing or not selected, but maybe the card slot is defective. This happened to me recently with a USB card (not on the PB), which once switched to another slot started behaving itself and is still working perfectly. Jose -- does the card show up on the desktop? Does it show up in Devices and Volumes in the Apple System Profiler? Can you ask the seller if it worked when he/she had this computer?
