Right. The Apple cable is among the highest in quality. The 29-pin cable
(not the 30) is what you need. Don't let them sell you a Docking cable.

>2) external SCSI case with Cent50 connector
Yes. And no. If you find one cheaply, go for it. Any old PC case with a
power supply will do as well. Then just add a SCSI ribbon cable with a
C50 connector on the other end. Ugly but very cheap (much like me).

>3) software that supports the burner
Toast is ubiquitous. If the WS has 9.1 or later, you could simply use
Disc Burner & iTunes. Charismac's Discribe offers 5 free burns on the
demo and is v. cheap. Toast and Discribe are the only X ones (IIRC). If
you don't need the various formats these 2 offer, you might do well with
Apple's free offerings.

Internally terminated. All PowerBooks since the 3400 (incl. 2400) provide
active term power to the SCSI bus and are also equipped with SCSIManager
4.3 in ROM, and also the faster SCSI chip. You'll be able to burn MP3s
direct to CD-DA at 6x on the Ricoh (the Wallstreet decodes MP3s at about
2.4MB/ps and 6x = 1MB/ps. Data burning, depending on HD speed, will be
easy, with the WS handling around 7-9MB/ps.
