Hello, everybody. I am a longtime vintage Mac aficionado, but I'm new to this group.
I was recently given a Powerbook 520, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the feasibility of using this machine for wireless internet. I've been seeing a lot of articles recently about making an 802.11b antenna from a Pringles can and 6 or 7 dollars worth of materials. I live a rather transient lifestyle, and currently my only internet connection is at the local library where I am limited to an hour a day and downloads are prohibited. This Powerbook is my only computer, and it would be great if I could make it work with one of these cheap Pringles can antennas. Do I need a wireless network card? Can the PB520 even accept one, or be modified to do so? Sorry for sounding like such a newbie, but the last time I had regular access to my own computer this Powerbook was the latest thing in laptop computing, and I was still making do with a 3 year old Performa. Thanks, Arlis Tyner __________________________________________________________________ The NEW Netscape 7.0 browser is now available.
