List, I want to thank all of the people who promptly responded to my problems with this laptop...I have the machine back up and running now.
I do believe I will replace the PRAM battery, as well as replace a handrest that has a crack on the left hand side. Now that I know that IDE drives over 8.2 GB will work on this model, I may install a 10-20 GB HD. Thanks for all of the contributions and emails. -- Michael R.
