Hello all, The recent discussion about getting a 3400 wireless has given me the idea of doing it myself... But I have a few questions to ask of you first:
I have a 1400c, currently running 8.1 with 64MB ram. From all reports, this should be enough to run a wireless PC card. I have an LCD iMac, which is of course made for airport. Now, I remember reading (way back, when airport was still in diapers) that it was possible to set up a desktop machine as a base station. Now, the iMac is hooked up into the rest of the network using standard cat-5 cables and a switch. Can I turn it into a base station? Or has apple stopped support for that, seeing as it would eliminate the need for a hardware base-station? If it IS possible, does anyone know what the reception is like? -- John -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
