Since VPC shares your network connection, you'd have to have the connection first, if I understand what you're saying.

FWIW, this seems to provide a pretty thorough going-over of this subject.
About the only question I see is, which wireless access point is
configurable either from a Mac or over a web interface?  Failing that which
ones require a PC, but will work from VirtualPC?
