The connector that you see can indeed get damaged; you cannot easily replace just the connector but you can sometimes find 1400 mainboards on ebay for $30 or so. It doesn't really matter which mainboard you get as long as you have a G3 update installed, the G3 update supercedes all the original hardware. That is less than floppy or CD modules often go for.


If you don't have a G3 card then of course it matters a little more which model mainboard you get- you'd hate to move backwards.
