I have a plain 5300 that I got with the 8 mb on the motherboard plus an 8 mb expansion for a total of 16 mb.
I later picked up a 16 mb memory expansion card, but when I add it, the total memory remains 16 mb. What is interesting is that Apple System Profiler says I have 16 mb: 0 mb (!) on the motherboard and the 16 mb expansion.
I haven't had the time to really try to figure this out, but I too would be interested if anyone knows what is going on.

Hi,
Here is the problem: This 5300cs only "sees" half of any RAM module that you put into it with the exception of an 8MB module. It's running OS 8.1.
