IIRC, most trackpad problems are caused by buildup of grime and grease from
fingers. Before you go disconnecting things the PB is looking for at
startup, I'd consider doing a thorough job of cleaning it with the proper
chemicals. I use some stuff that's in my VCR cleaning kit...I don't know
what it is, but it cleans well, doesn't harm plastic, and leaves no residue.
