I have an HP 1012 which I bought a few months back to replace the HP4ML that I had had for 12 years (it required a repair that would have cost $250). Warning: I had been using the back side of sheets to print and eventually got toner fused to some roller--the moral of that story is "It does not pay to do that because it ruins your printer". I like this new HP 1012 printer very much. It's very quiet and very fast in comparison to my old one. It cost me $149 on sale at Office Depot. However, I think the 2300 might be networkable, which this one is not, if you need networkable.
