What is native is support for removable SCSI devices, and that was then adapted to include ATAPI devices (the expansion bay uses ATAPI for most drives), then finally modified to allow Zip drives to mount without drivers. The Iomega extension in 9.1 only provides support for password locked disks and other Iomega stuff that isn't part of generic removable device protocol.
Can you confirm that you have not had any trouble with the Floppy or CD module in the 3400?
