New PRAM batteries can be had new for less than $20.00 each with the wiring
already made up. http://www.powerbookguy.com/1400.html

The PB 1400 takes eithor 1 or 2 PRAM batteries, depending on your model.
Remove the expansion bay cd rom/floppy and the main battery, look up into
the top of the computer and you will see eithor 1 or 2 black plastic parts,
this is the PRAM batteries. They are under these plastic covers.

A pain to change, but it can be done. I have done two. My first, I bought
the battery from a Apple dealer, $50.00+ each, my second, I bought the
batterys from powerbookguy.com.

Live and learn.
