Subject: pb 520c display repair

I have 2 pb 520c displays from which I'd like to get a fully fuctional
one. One (A) has a toast backlight, the other (B) an LCD with "ghost"
effects (apple claims they're normal, but they did not appear in the
other LCD). Display B is usable, just it isn't pretty.

Is it wiser to replace the LCD panel (from display A to B) or the
backlight (from display A to B)? Or leave them alone? I guess the 2nd
solution whoule be the choice, but that bulb seems so fragile... I
thought to ask first, as I'm a first timer with displays, LCDs, etc...
Precautions, advice? Replace? Leave it alone?

Might it be that the gosthing effects are not inherent to the LCD panel
but to the display circuitry?

thanks in advance for the expertise, gianfranco

I think you meant from B to A when replacing the backlight bulb? The 520c passive-matrix screen will have some ghosting, but it's not too bad on I gave to my nephew. If you are going to take the screens out of the housings, then it's not too much more work to remove the bulb. I took one out of a grayscale 520 to put into a 5300ce display.
