the stupid word doc/ email attachment bug that we've talked here about a few months ago

You can't send Word X files to people using a webmail to read their mails. They won't be able to open the file they can download. 2 files are actually sent, with the exact same name, one a stupid icon, the other the real file. Webmail can only access the icon file, which is useless. Only one attachemnt is displayed although both are there, and only one (the first, the icon) can be downloaded.

Although it should work, and I'm told Apple is following a spec, no webmail I've found actually uses that spec. The recipient will only be able to access the wrong file. They'll tell you the .doc is corrupt.

For whatever reason ('nuff said) my wife only uses webmail to access her univ. email. She can tell who is using an OS X Mac as the only way she can get their docs to open is to forward it to me (OS X), and I upload the real .doc to our server.

I figured the best list to find out about import issues would be this one, since people here have older laptops with Office98 and then fancy laptops, and desktops, with X and Office X; all on one list :)
