Being able to hack OpenFirmware is a must for doing any kind of custom OS hackage on modern Macs. Actually, the NetBSD/macppc install documentation is a good introduction to what OpenFirmware can do. (Warning: this is a BIG file and you'll have to scroll down quite a bit to the relevant sections, but you'll get the hang of it in no time.) ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.6.2/macppc/INSTALL.html And this is another more formal introduction: http://www.kernelthread.com/publications/firmware/ Here's even a Towers of Hanoi in OF, over the network! http://www.kernelthread.com/mac/apme/hanoi/ Learning OF is a *very* useful skill. -- ---------------------------------- personal: http://www.armory.com/~spectre/ -- Cameron Kaiser, Floodgap Systems Ltd * So.
