I've run both 7.6.1 and 8.1 on my 5300cs with 16 megs of ram... (ick! I know) And I would have to say I'm ready to go back to 7.6.1.. It was faster, more responsive and believe it or not less porn to crash.. I'll just keep the extensions I need to keep the OS 8 look... Not to much for the flat os 7.x look..

What bout wireless and usb2 adapters?
Hello,
I have a 5300 running 8.1. It works fine for word processing, but it is painfully slow browsing the net. It does work fine for checking email. I connect wirelessly via a card i recently purchased on Ebay. I tried a Dell True Mobile card, but could not find a driver that would work with 8.1. The card I purchased on Ebay came with a CD containing the necessary drivers, and it actually works quite well, other than the speed limitations of the 5300.
