When my wife's car was broken into, our PLPD insurance wouldn't cover
anything, nor would homeowner's insurance. Homeowners would have
covered anything in the car stolen of value not attached to the car,
including CDs, but since the car had a CD player (stolen as well), the
CDs went uncovered. I'm unsure whether full coverage would cover CDs
either...

This is typical, actually. When I had almost my entire CD collection
stolen from my car the police said they would do nothing about it,
even thogh it was more than $1000 worth of CDs- most of which I can
guarantee that the thieves would not want anyways, and most likely
threw away.
