(Re-post: It looks like my email got lost somewhere in the ether the other day - it didn't bounce, but I never saw it turn up on the list).

Of course, this is topic is so completely off-topic for this list... Having said that, let me contribute to the collective delinquency! ;-)

I own three Wallstreets (a 292, a 233 series II, and a 266). None of them glowed out of the box (not in the same way as a Pismo, anyway, which can be seen in a normally lit room in the daytime). A Wallstreet might faintly glow if you view it from the rear in a completely black environment, but that's only by accident. That's because the foam and mylar sheet between the backlight and the logo aren't 100% opaque (they're close to it though, maybe 95%).

On one of my Wallstreets, the only modification necessary to make the logo glow was simply the removal of a mylar sticker from the backside of the logo. On the other, I needed to remove the sticker and trim back some of the foam spacer to allow the light through. I haven't bothered to make the third glow.

In very bright direct sunlight with the LCD at lower backlight brightnesses, sometimes there will be a yellowish blotch in the center of the LCD where the sunlight shines through the logo more brightly than the backlight lights the LCD.

Setting up some LEDs around the logo is a simple thing to do. I've investigated the possibility of moving the sleep LED to the logo (or adding a 2nd LED in addition to the primary LED) There's plenty of space between the plastic of the lid and the backlight. Some of the foam may have to be trimmed back on individual models, however.

Mad Dog, does this answer some of your questions?

Peace,
Drew
