I think you are correct.
Its not exactly like that. There is 7.6 and 7.6.1 for the 3400.
But it is right, it is a silgtly different 7.6.
In the download area for alder amcs at apple.com you can
download the spezial files for the 3400.
It took me a year to get a german 7.6.1 for mine ;)

that's exactly what I found out as well: e.g. that *there is* a special 7.6
install CD just made for the 3400. - I even had a somebody sell it to me
(the guy said he was sure that the CD was originally from his 3400!!!) but
heck it still doesn't work :-/
I will try the things you wrote down on your website...maybe it will
help....
