I know this doesn't directly involve PowerBooks, but I was wondering if it is possible to use the Desktop Pictures control panel from Mac OS 8 in System 7.5.5. I tried it with no luck.
This is rarely feasable going back system revs with such things.
It just gave me an error saying that it wasn't properly installed and to put it in my Control Panels folder, even though it was in the Control Panels folder. If it isn't possible are there any third-party programs that will do the same thing?
Yep, in fact I think it was called Desktop Pictures. I'm reasonably certain that that was another third party app, like Windowshade, that Apple bought and stuck in the OS. I know for certain I had such an init on my Mac Plus back in the System 7.0 days.
