OK, please excuse my revealed ignorance in asking this question because despite collecting low-end macs for some time now, I have recently started dabbling in portables. I've searched the archives to no avail. (I did see a lot of "pram" entries though, which has lead me down an entire new research path.)
I have obtained two Powerbook 3400's, which between the two of them should make one fine, working machine. I have discovered what is more than likely already obvious to most of you: the batteries in both of them are now suitable to be fine paperweights. My question is in a few parts: 1) What exactly is the difference between Lithion Ion and "NiMh"(?) batteries, and which would these (presumeadly) orginal batteries that I have be? 2) Is there any way of salvadging these -- bringing them back to any kind of useable life? 3) Is there a modern equivalent/replacemet option for these? 4) or, should I simply get used to the idea of being tethered to the wall with this ridiculous brick right in the middle of the power cord? -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
