Location: NJ Duration: 2-4 months *Requirements: * Looking for a strong IBM Cognos candidate to define engineering for Cognos BI 10.1 implementation. The Cognos Engineer leads all aspects of the delivery of Cognos BI 10.1 platform & related components. The Cognos Engineer understands business challenges & translates them into requirements/solutions. This is a hands-on consulting delivery role. The Cognos Engineer has 1 year of experience designing, developing and implementing complex Cognos BI 10.1 platform. Cognos 8.x experience in addition to the Cognos 10 experience is desirable. *Position Description:* 1. Define or guide the definition of technical engineering, analysis & architecture to meet business requirements in infrastructure and applications products implementations 2. Ability to accurately capture and document architecture design and systems requirements 3. Experience with application development and system architecture design 4. Provide infrastructure sizing, including hardware and software requirements 5. Provide technical leadership to project teams 6. Mentor technical consultants who provide technical services during product implementations 7. Define or assist with best practices during implementation and integration of Cognos Platform 8. Plan, design and execute performance tests of the platform 9. Analyze, troubleshoot and / or tune product performance or deployment issues when required, either during implementations or post go-live - Develop and Document technical architecture, system design, performance test results and other technical aspects of the implementation 10. Provide advice to customers on defining the optimum technical architecture to meet business requirement 11. Lead cross functional teams including Engineering & Operations toward successful implementation of next release of Cognos BI 10.1 solutions and completion of all SDLC deliverables 12. Adhere to all compliance and regulatory needs for implementation of the projects including execution of Infrastructure Qualification and Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) requirements 13. Provide technical direction required to resolve complex issues to ensure the on-time delivery of solutions that meet customer expectations 14. Works to define and characterize complex technology or process problems and/or develops new solutions, yet works independently to drive technical problems to a solution 15. Provide best practices and processes for day to day operations, performance analysis, tuning and capacity planning of Cognos BI 10.1 solutions in operational phase 16. Coordinate with Cognos for resolution of any technical issues which requires product vendor engagement 17. Develop and foster a collaborative working relationship with Business Intelligence team, consultants, and project managers to develop processes, documentation and solutions related to Cognos BI 10.1 implementation. *Required Competencies:* 1. The candidate should possess strong systems architecture and design skills 2. 10+ years experience as a Engineer responsible for deployment of BI solutions 3. Strong experience with Cognos 10.1 Architecture/Server Administration 4. Cognos development background with various BI Clients 0.x 5. Must have worked on at least 2 full life cycle implementations of Cognos BI Solutions 6. Experience with Windows Active Directory for security architecture and IIS for Web Servers 7. Experience with Oracle 10g, 11g and SQL Server 2005/2008, other programming languages (VB, PL/SQL) 8. Experience with Storage devices like NAS, SAN 9. Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008, SUSE Linux Server 10 (SLES10), HP-UX 10. Experience with Windows 7, IE 8, Vista, XP, Office 2007 11. Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, ability to react quickly to changing requirements due to product limitation or driven by enterprise need 12. Solid oral and written communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to management and non-technical audiences 13. Experience working with multi-tiered, multi-region architectures within shared services and/or BI competency centers *Highly Desirable:* 1.Systems architecture skills 2. Experience with Cognos BI tools i.e. ReportStudio, QueryStudio, AnalysisStudio, MetricStudio, PowerPlayStudio, EventStudio, Business Insight 3. Experience with Cognos BI Clients i.e. Framework Manager, Transformer, Metrics Designer 4. Experience with Servers/Software Installation/Qualification/Validation processes in HealthCare industry 5. Experience with scripting (SED, AWK, Perl, DOS) or other languages (VB Script) *Methodology/Certifcations:* 1. Cognos BI Server Administration 2. Cognos Professional Author 3. Cognos OLAP Certification 4. Cognos BI v10.1 training preferred 5. PMP preferred 6.
