Turn it on and let it sit for a while.
Oftentimes this will help if a monitor has been sitting for a while.
The monitors control panel contains gamma controls and sometimes adjusting
the Gamma
will increase the luminosity.
It would help to list the make and model/size of the monitor for others to
offer suggestions.
