I have a PowerBase 240. I installed a VST UltraTek/66 card and have been
having no problems. I have both a Maxtor 30 Gig hard drive and a Yamaha
Lightspeed CD-RW drive attached. The firmware that comes with the card makes
the card masquerade as SCSI which allows a lot more Mac software to work.
All my software thinks the 2 drives are on a 2nd SCSI chain, and I've had no
problems. The card comes with RAID software and non-VST RAID software also
seems to work. Both drives appear to be about 5 times faster than their
built-in counterparts (which are still installed also).
