Hey, All,

I print large files to a Tektronix 2135 color network printerfrom
QuarkXpress 4.1, but they print much slower than the printer's 21 ppm top
rated speed. I am running a PTP upgraded to G4 400 with 1 GB of RAM, so I
think the computer is processing the files pretty quickly. To see maximum
print speed, I'm thinking I should upgrade my ethernet network to 100
BaseT, since the printer supports 10/100 BaseT Ethernet.

Does anyone (particularly PTP users) have experience with a 100 BaseT PCI
upgrade card? How about 100 BaseT hubs? Which brands are good and how much
can I expect to pay? The only other device on the network is a PowerMac
7500 (which actually prints and file shares quite rarely). Will I need to
upgrade it to 100 BaseT, as well?

Lastly, will I see the speed boost I am hoping for with a network upgrade,
or is it a pipe dream to try to get close to the manufacture's rated print
speed with multi-page 500 mg+ files?

Thanks,
