Hi!

I'm a counselor in a psychosocial club that offers help with socialization
skills to people who have ongoing emotional difficulties. We have a
Powerbase 180 from Power Computing that's running Mac OS 7.6.1 Release 3.1.
The club has had the machine since the last century. None of the counselors,
including myself, uses Macs.

The problem is this. A couple of years ago, the Mac started propagating
files on the desktop. At that time, I tried to discover a solution for the
problem in the documentation. None of my solutions worked, and so I moved
our database operations over to a PC clone running Windows.

As for the Mac, one of the desktops didn't have the problem, and as luck
would have, that desktop contained the member's game directory, and so the
Mac became the club's default game computer.

Recently, however, the propagation of files started again, making play on
the computer impossible. I've tried Praming the system, and reinstalling the
OS. Nothing worked. I'd like to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the
OS, but I can't seem to find directions in the documentation for this rather
simple procedure.

Better still, if you could tell me how to stop the propagation, I might not
have to format. That way, I could save some of the members' favorite games.

As I said, the problem didn't occur on the member's desktop. It only
occurred in the staff directory, and in the administrative directory, run by
me, especially when I went into the Mac's central file system. (Yeah, I
know. The idea of me as a Mac administrator is a little funny)

Any help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated by the Club, by
me, and especially by the Mac. Right now the Mac is scheduled for the trash
heap unless I can get it fixed.

Thanks,

Dave
