Hi all, Just joined this list and have a few questions about upgrading my PowerCenter.
I have a PowerCenter 150 minitower running OS 9.1 with 160MB RAM, 3GB 2.5 inch IDE drive (boot disk) on a Sonnet Tempo HD with a WD100GB IDE drive attached. I use the computer as a backup server running Retrospect to backup my PowerBook and my wife's ibook. I am thinking of buying a Sonnet G3 500 processor card and maybe an ATI radeon 7000 pci card and then installing OS X, but I have read about alot of problems getting OS X to run on a PowerCenter. <http://forums.xlr8yourmac.com/cpureview.lasso> My hope is to install a G3 or G4 processor, add a new video card and install OS X and continue to use the computer as a backup server and also as a backup OS X system should my PowerBook ever fail. The idea here is to get OS X running with minimal cost. Also, I have also been wondering if upgrading is even worth it. Is it more cost effective to buy an older G4 tower? Appreciate the help anyone can give to help me make the best choices for upgrading or not.
