You can run osX on the g3 500 mhz upgrade. I have a 7300 with that and only 2 megs video ram and it runs fine with X. I didn't even use sonnets osX installer, i use XPostFacto, its a freeware program to install os X on upgraded macs and older pre g3 macs. It is free off of versiontracker.com and probebly even download.com.
