No personal experience (yet) but from all I've read, if you have a PCI Mac
running OS 9, the 7000 is apparently is pretty much the only way to go. 

ATI has a trade-in program that allows you to try out your new card for 10
days. After 10 days, you either send them your old card (they say, any
make,) or return the new one.

 After the rebate and shipping the 7000 will cost about $100.-

To get the rebate you'll have to fill out their special on-line order form.

NOTE: This may not necessarily the best deal available. You may want to
check-out Other World Computing (for some reason, I cannot get on their
website right now,) and other on-line sources. But it looks like the
trade-in/rebate is only available directly from ATI.
