1. The IDE drive can most definitely be used as a startup drive, and in my
experience do not have to be in a 8gb or less partition.  I have used a 20gb
and 80gb on the ATA-66 card with 9.1 and installed Jaguar on a 10gb drive,
all with the single partition.  This is not to say there aren't reasons to
partition a drive that large, just that it is not required.

2. XpostFacto will not function with the FWB driver.  The  Apple Disk Setup
tool should format the drive and will split it into partitions if you like.

3. I've only seen that error message when trying to use a system cd that
came with a particular machine.  Be sure your install cd will boot the
machine, then install from there.
